About Lokkalyan Foundation

LokKalyan BahuuddeshiyA Sanstha (LKBS) is a registred Non Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Nandurbar, Maharashtra. Our aim is to alleviate poverty and facilitate lasting change in the lives of the most vulnerable tribal families living in rural and urban areas of the Nandurbar district. This is achieved by providing support through agriculture, education, health and sanitation, livelihoods, watershed development and environment programs.

The journey of development since our humble beginnings in 2015 is almost unbelievable. With the social vision of seven friends, the LOKKALYAN BAHUUDDESHIYA SANSTHA (LKBS) was founded on 20th August. Despite coming from the ordinary families, these seven people have been at the forefront of social work throughout their college years. The seven people behind this organization have sown the seed of the society-wide social accountability initiative in the form of LKBS.

In our motto, the organization emphasizes both rural and urban development. Over the last seven years, the organization has implemented several initiatives in rural and urban areas. Our work remains focused on the most vulnerable tribals living in Nandurbar district as it has low human development index and therefore declared as the aspirational district by the NITI ayog. We continue to maintain the personal community involvement that has become the trademark of LKBS. The unique assessment process for people to join our programs ensures we continue to select hose families who are the poorest of the poor and at the lowest levels of the community.

Our future aim is to provide handholding support to more vulnerable families in order to improve quality of their life. We also have plans to expand our provision more widely through environment conservation initiatives. Whilst it is becoming increasingly challenging to find new sponsors, we are hopeful of continuing to obtain new supporters for our work. We look forward to what 2023 has to bring.

Our Legal & Financial Reports
Last year we supported approximately 200 families through our different programs. Most of the families have had single source of income, which is merely agriculture labor. There is widespread poverty with approximately 70 % which lies below poverty line (BPL).
